Native of the east of China the Silk Road reached the edge of the Taklimakan desert, then separated in two main routes : the northern route followed the Tianshan mountains round the fringes of the Taklamikan then reached the steppes of Central Asia to Tashkent ; the second route, the oldest one, followed the southern borders of the Taklimakan then crossed the giddy ranges of the Karakorum to reach India.

The gallery "La Route de la Soie et Ses Merveilles" is opened since 1986 in Paris, in the famous Quartier latin district. Funded by two afghan brothers, Wali et Shawali Haydari, who wanted to share their passion for the art of Central Asia, the gallery will make you discover a lot of objects representative of this popular art : tribal rugs, furniture, jewellry, antique textiles and the fascinating sculptures of the Ghandara greco-buddhique art. All these objects have been collected for you during numerous travels in Central Asia, India, Nepal, Tibet and in the nord-west of China.

All the articles presented on this site are only part of our collection so do not hesitate to visit our gallery or contact us if you need more informations.
